# Lower manso river
Duration: all day
Departure: 10:00hs. Arrival: 19:00 hs.
Difficulty: grades 2 to 3

This is the most popular rafting adventure in the summer. It is the best way to learn the navigation of mountain rivers, and can be enjoyed with your family, no previous experience is required. Children must be over six years of age.

We pick up guests at their hotels, and leave bariloche along route 258 (to bolson). We head toward steffen lake and go past lakes gutierrez , mascardi, and guillelmo. We reach steffen lake at approximately 12 noon. While the guides get the rafting equipment ready, we get suitably dressed . After the lead-guide talks to us, we are ready to start our journey down the river. Surrounded by high peaks and lush vegetation, our raft is carried along by the current while we enjoy the flora of nahuel huapi national park: cohihue, cypress, arrayan, maiten, radal, colihue cane, chilco, etc. We will also be able to watch birds such as kingfisher, bandurria, great bustard, and tero. The clear waters of manso river will allow us to see different varieties of trout. After approximately one hour and a half , we will stop on a beautiful sandy beach where our guides will carefully prepare a delicious lunch. A selection of fresh food will be served: breads, dressings, cold cuts, vegetables, fruits, juices, and a sweet treat. Around 3:00 pm, we are ready to continue rafting. From now on, the river becomes more and more exciting. Uvasal, billiards band, hippopotamus´ tooth, roller coaster and magnetic rock, are some of the white waters we will navigate.

During the summer months. The sun allows us to swim in the warm pools of the river. Further on, at the confluence with villegas river, we encounter the most exciting and unforgettable white waters of the day. When we get to the lower manso valley our journey ends. This is where our transportation will be waiting for us and where we will change into our warm clothes, while the guides tidy everything and prepare a snack. Afterwards, we start our trip back to bariloche city, arriving at around 7:00 pm.

# Manso river to the chilean border
Duration: all day
Difficulty: grades 3 to 4
For those who are looking for action, this is the most thrilling trip--- rafting and trekking in the heart of the andes . This journey requires certain skills such as swimming, previous rafting experience, and, as there is a two-hour walk, average fitness is suggested. Children must be 14 years or older.

We pick up guests at their hotels and drive down route 258 to the southern boundary of nahuel huapi national park, following the manso river until we get to john´s farm where we breakfast on the banks of the river. We get our equipment ready and after the lead-guide gives his talk, at around 10:00 am, we are ready to start our journey down the last part of the manso river on the argentine side. During the first part of the journey the river is calm, and we are able to enjoy the landscape, the white sandy beaches and the high waterfalls. Later on, the manso becomes very rough. On our raft we swerve through the exciting white waters along narrow canyons--- the velvet box, the ozone hole, shout and turn to the right, the little slide, deep throat, ecstasy, fang, and international---where the thick vegetation becomes visible. The gorges will be part of our journey all the way down to the andes.

As we approach the border with chile, our boat trip ends. We get our lunch ready on the river bank : delicious tuna, blue cheese, and egg salads together with a variety of cold cuts to prepare tasty sandwiches, and fruit and juices. After lunch we walk for about 100 mts. Until we get to the chilean border. We load our equipment onto the horses leaving behind the amazing bastion mountain, and start on our way back to john´s farm, along an old trail. On this journey we will come upon streams and creeks. This takes an average of one and a half hours and it is not difficult.

Around 5:00 pm we arrive back at john´s farm, where a delicious "country" tea is waiting for us: cakes, fried cakes, bread, home made jam, hot and cold drinks, all carefully prepared by the ladies on the farm.

After saying good-bye to john´s farm, we return to Bariloche city.
