This
60 km. tour is a perfect half day tour. The road is completely
paved, and starts in the centre of the city, going past Bonita
Beach, Huemul Island, Campanario Hill, Llao-Llao Hotel, San
Eduardo Chapel, Pañuelo Port, Lopez Bay, Mount Lopez, the
view point ( a natural balcony from which all of Lake Moreno
and Llao- Llao Peninsula can be seen), etc.

Duration: All Day
Distance: 284 km.
Type
of Road: 113 km. are gravel and the rest is paved.
Driving along national road
237 streams Ñireco, Ñirihuau and the River Limay are crossed
( the latest being the boundary between the two provinces).
We will see Pampa Newbery, Rincon Chico, Rincon Grande, the
anfitheatre, The Enchanted Valley, the confluence of the Rivers
Traful and Limay, we will also go past Rivers Cuyin, Manzano,
Minero and Lake Traful with its breathtaking view point on
a 70 mt. high cliff, Arrayan Port and El Portezuelo farm.
Then
we will take The Seven Lakes Road and we will go past Lakes
Correntoso, Espejo, La Angostura Village and Manzano Port.
Otto
Hill
Duration: Half Day
Distance: 22 km.
Type of Road: 20 km gravel, and the rest is paved.
The
hill ( 1405 mts. above sea level) is only 5 km. from the city.
During the climb (by bus or car) thick "lenga" woods (similar
to beech trees) and other species can be observed. The Piedras
Blancas Centre is on this way and it has ski runs and a tea
room. As the top of the hill is reached, Lakes Nahuel Huapi,
Moreno and Gutierrez, Mounts Tronador and Catedral, San Pedro
and Llao-Llao peninsulas can be observed. The only revolving
tea room in South America is here, with a speed between 20
and 40 mins. There is also a sledge run, a museum
with Michael Angelo´s masterpieces: David, La Pietá
and Moses, identical copies in their original size made of
powdered marble and acrilic resin. Mountain bike, paragliding,
trekking, and rock climbing are some of the activities which
can be practiced there. Otto Meiling´s house is not far from
here, it is a museum nowadays, which shows the belongings
of this pioneer and Berghof shelter where lodging and food
are available.
Huemul
Island
Duration: Half Day
The trip starts in
San Carlos Port and after a half hour trip across the lake
we arrive in Huemul Island. There is a tour around the ruins
of what was once an atomic project by Prof. Richter during
Gral. Juan D. Peron´s government.
Victoria
Island and Arrayanes Wood
Duration: Half day or
all day.
Leaving from San Carlos Port
or Pañuelo Port and after a 30 min. trip across the lake we
arrive at Anchorena Port on Victoria Island. After a hike
around the island to a connifer tree nursery, we can take
the lift to the top of Bella Vista Hill at 900mts. After boarding
the boat again, we will sail to Quetrihue Port where we will
visit the famous Arrayanes ( myrtle tree) wood, which is unique
in the world because of its hundred year old trees, and has
therefore been declared an intangible area and a world natural
wonder. The bark of this tree is cinnamon coloured, smooth
and very cold, it has white leaves and a tasty purple fruit.
Blest
Port, Los Cantaros Fall and Lake Frias
Duration: All day
As we sail across the Blest
branch of Lake
Nahuel Huapi, we will go past Centinela Island, where Perito
Moreno´s remains are buried. When we arrive at Blest Port,
the trip continues by bus to Lake Frias where we will board
a motor boat across the lake to Frias Port. This is where
we can cross the border to Chile reaching Peulla at midday,
and staying at Peulla Hotel a typically German building. The
Bride´s Veil Fall can be visited here.The next day we will
sail across Lake Todos Los Santos, also called Esmeralda,
up to Petrohué, situated on the slopes of the Osorno Volcano,
by the lake, where we will have lunch and then we will visit
the famous Petrohué falls. After that we will continue by
bus up to Puerto Varas City along Lake Llanquihue ( one of
the biggest in South America) and then to Puerto Montt city.
From Blest Port we can also sail across to Los Cantaros Fall
and after climbing a wooden staircase to 600mts.above sea
level, we will be able to observe several falls and cascades
of incredible beauty.
Mount
Tronador and Glaciers through Lake Mascardi
Duration: All day
This traditional trip to Mount
Tronador´s Black Glacier is done by boat from the jetty on
lake Macardi ( the lake of seven colours) across to Tronador
Hotel going past the mounts: Agustin P. Justo, Fray Elguea,
Cresta de Gallo and Bonete. We can hike, from here
to The Nalcas Fall, where you can walk behind the fall.
Mount
Tronador and Alerces Fall
Duration: All day
Type of road: 50 km.
gravel road, 34 km. paved road.
We will go by bus along Lakes
Gutierrez and Mascardi crossing the Lower and Upper River
Manso up to Pampa Linda. Then we will go through the Vuriloches´
Valley finally reaching the Black Glacier, a black glacier
which is originally immaculate white at the top of Mount Tronador.
Its three peaks are: Argentine (3410), International (3554),
and the Chilean (3430) climbed throughout the summer. Another
option is to go on a tour to The Alerces Fall ( larch tree)
along Lake Los Moscos and River Manso up to lake Hess and
crossing the River Roca finally reaching Los Alerces Fall.
Mount
Catedral
This is the most important
ski centre in South America, the foot of the mountain is at
1000 mts. above sea level. It has very good facilities for
the winter sports lovers, hotels, restaurants and ski lifts.
It can be visited in winter
to practice ski and other activities connected to snow and
also in the summer to enjoy an imposing view from the summit.
El
Bolson and its farms
Duration: All day
Distance: 131 km.
Originally inhabited by Chileans,
it was founded in 1933. It has a special climate and only
at 300 mts. above sea level. Bordered by the river Quemquemtreu
on one side and on the other by Mount Piltriquitron. It is
the souhternmost village in the province of Rio Negro. The
road goes along Lakes Gutierrez and Mascardi, and then through
Pampa del Toro and the Mosca Canyon, finally reaching El Bolson.
It is a special place for growing berries and hops. In winter
there is a ski centre and
in the summer trout fishing is very popular. Jam , cheese,
and all sorts of wooden and leather crafts are made.
